Apply Today: Pride Service Site Leaders Program
Committed to the belief that an education includes both fostering students' intellectual growth and developing them into socially responsible citizens, the Pride Service Site Leaders program was created in 2014. Taking volunteerism to the next level, the program is designed to develop student civic leaders at Widener University.
Ten upperclassmen are selected to act as volunteer coordinators, liaisons, and/or managers for a service site and work with a designated community partner in Chester throughout the academic school year. In addition to providing service, the Pride Service Site Leader’s focus is to motivate and recruit other Widener students to volunteer. Pride Service Site Leaders commit to serving 160 hours per year, and in return, receive an annual $1,500 award.
Successful participants of the program often possess the following qualifications:
- Ability to influence and motivate peers
- Demonstrate initiative; able to be a self-starter
- Manage time and projects effectively
- Persistence and a “can-do” attitude
- Communicate clearly and effectively to others
- Conduct oneself in a respectable, professional manner
