Schmutz Student Civic Engagement Mini-Grants Awarded
Five Schmutz Student Mini-Grants will be awarded during the 2015 spring semester to support undergraduate student-led Chester-focused projects that are developed in collaboration with a community partner and a faculty or administrator advisor.
Proposed projects include: a film documentary that chronicles Chester’s past, present, and future; an interactive hands-on science event coordinated by the Biology Club for students at the Widener Partnership Charter School; the creation of “Swimming with Pride,” a program designed to introduce Chester youth to swimming and water safety; a nutrition and physical activity program hosted by Soccer for Success and the Institute for Physical Therapy; and the Healthy Girls of Chester initiative that is designed to educate high school girls about the benefits of physical activity and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Congrats to all of the awardees!
