Dear friends of the Widener University Community, It’s stream cleanup time in Delaware County!

The 19th Annual Streams Cleanup organized by Chester Ridley Crum Watersheds Association is quickly approaching on Saturday, April 30th. Volunteers are needed to help with the cleanup at over 25 sites around the county between 9 and 11:30am. Gloves and bags will be provided. All are welcome to enjoy a delicious complimentary picnic lunch and share experiences afterwards at Pavilion 8 at Ridley Creek State Park.

The following meeting locations are close to Widener University, some within walking distance…

Site # 190- Child and Youth Services, 531 Penn St., Chester City (Chester Creek) - Hard (Wading, Steep Banks, etc.)
Site # 260- Chester Park Nature Trail, Chester City (Waterville Rd. entrance @ bridge over Ridley Creek) - Family Friendly
Site # 290- Woodlyn Shopping Center, 1936 West MacDade Blvd. Ridley Twp. (Ridley Creek on campus) - Medium (Possible Wading, banks)

Volunteers are asked to preregister for the cleanup and picnic and to reserve free Stream Cleanup t-shirts on the CRC website at www.crcwatersheds.org. A complete listing of sites and meeting locations can be found here. Sites vary from challenging to easy and children friendly areas. Families are encouraged to attend.

Please contact me if you have questions or need help in selecting an appropriate site. Remember everyone lives in a watershed. Thank you for supporting yours.
