On March 28, 2014, community partners representing 11 Chester-based non-profit organizations gathered with President Harris, faculty, Board of Trustee members, and administrators to discuss Widener's Strategic Plan and ways to implement democratic partnerships.

Schmutz Student Mini-Grants Awardees
Fourteen undergraduate students are recipients of the recently endowed Schmutz Student Mini-Grants. Awards are granted annually to support undergraduate student-led Chester-focused projects that are developed in collaboration with a Chester community partner to address community needs.

Pride Service Site Leader Scholarship Applications Now Accepted for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors
Widener is now accepting applications for the Pride Service Site Leaders Scholarship Program for current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Students commit to 160 hours of service and leadership each year in exchange for an annual $1500 scholarship applied towards tuition for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leader Applications Now Accepted for Freshmen and Sophomores
Widener is now accepting applications for the PSC/Bonner program for current freshman and sophomore Widener students. Students in the program commit to 300 hours of service and leadership trainings each year in exchange for an annual $5,000 scholarship applied towards tuition for up to 8 semesters.

Widener University Inaugural Invited Student Lecture
Widener University Inaugural Invited Student Lecture Monday, March 31, 2014 at noon Call for Papers: Deadline March 10, 2014 This year, for the first time, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, the Office for Community Engagement and Diversity Initiatives, and the English Department are sponsoring an Invited Student Lecture. Students are invited to submit essays on the topic below. Essays will be read by a committee of faculty and administrators from across the university, and the winner will be invited to read his/her essay before a university-wide audience on March 31. The winner will also receive a small prize and a lunch in his/her honor.
