Service-Learning Course Designation for Student Transcripts
Widener's service-learning course designation for student transcripts was approved by Faculty Council in the spring 2014 semester. We now need to begin the process of approving courses for the designation for the fall 2015 semester.

Widener's Volunteer Fair, led by our Pride Service Site Leaders, will be held on September 15, 16, & 18 from 11AM - 1PM outside of the Univ. Center. While supplies last, FREE Widener T-shirts and FREE food will be given out to those who sign up for a volunteer opportunity at the Fair!!

This year's Constitution Day 2014 Keynote Speaker will be Erin Daly, Interim Dean, Delaware Campus and Professor of Law. Dean Daly will speak on "The Right to Human Dignity: How Constitutions are Guaranteeing it and How Courts are Protecting it Around the World."

Sept. 11th - 9/11 Day of Service Event
The Office of Civic Engagement will have a table set up in the Univ. Center Atrium on Thursday, September 11 from 11-1 with pens and note cards for anyone to take a few minutes and write a note to currently deployed United States service members, new recruits, and wounded warriors as part of Operation Gratitude.

Diversity Programming Student Mini-Grants Now Available
Additional funding will create Diversity Programming Student Mini-Grants to augment programs or activities aimed at creating and sustaining a healthy campus climate at Widener. Funding will be specifically designated to assist SGA recognized student organizations and Greek-letter sororities and fraternities with programming efforts that promote a welcoming campus climate.

Helpful Political Engagement  Resources
Political engagement is a key component of Widener’s mission to empower students to become socially responsible citizens. As such, the Office of Civic Engagement aims to provide students with all the resources they need to become informed voters and politically engaged citizens. Here you can find a list of several different online resources, each of which contains a variety of useful tools and helpful information regarding all aspects the voting process—from polling locations to voter ID laws to information on specific politicians’ platforms and more.

From TRASH to TREASURE Donate some of your clothes and home goods during Move Out!
Alpha Phi Omega is co-sponsoring with the Office of Civic Engagement and the Office of Resident Life to present the Trash to Treasure event! From May 2 to the 9, bins will be placed inside every residence hall and inside the University Center to collect items that students no longer need or want!
