Position Summary
Volunteer tutors are a vital part of Delaware County Literacy Council’s mission.
Volunteers may tutor in one-on-one or small group settings. Meetings are arranged between volunteers and students in a public location, or remotely through Zoom, for twice a week for three hours in total. Our organization primarily serves adult basic/secondary education learners
(who may be studying for a high school diploma) and English as an additional language learners (who may be studying to develop their citizenship skills).
Volunteers will be provided a free 12 hour tutoring certification course prior to being matched with a learner.

Essential Duties
Volunteer tutors are responsible for:
Scheduling meeting times and location with learners
Submitting lesson notes
Submitting timesheets


Be at least 18 years old

Commit to at least six months of tutoring, 3 hours per week

Possess good literacy and communication skills

Exhibit professionalism in adhering to the expectations of DCLC’s tutoring program and in interacting with students and DCLC personnel
